God Is Our Refuge. Be Still!
Let's take a moment and bask in the Awesomeness of GOD. Let's unwind, take a deep breath and just be.....still. Be.......still. Be still in the prescence of GOD.
Psalm 46 has been a blessing to me as I have been trusting in GOD and standing on HIS word during this little storm that has seemed to blow my way. GOD has been whispering to me. He has been whispering....Be still and know that I am GOD (Psalm 46:10 KJV).
Now throughout this psalm, I notice it repeats that "GOD is our refuge". The definition of refuge is: shelter or protection from danger. Praise GOD!
Oftentimes, I forget that I don't have to worry about the raging storms of life. As the turmoil and raging winds of trials and circumstances try to overtake me, I don't have to be afraid. I can just run to GOD and he will cover me. HE will protect me!
GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. (Psalms 46:1-3)
My, what an Awesome GOD! HE is our protector and even we are not strong, HE will be our strength in our time of trouble. He is always there. He is always available. All we have to do is call on HIS precious, holy name. It doesn't matter what is going on. Even if it seems like it is the end of the world, our GOD will keep us safe in HIS arms.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am GOD: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the GOD of Jacob is our refuge. (Psalms 46:9-11)
WOW! Look what Our HOLY GOD will do for us if we just stop trying to fight a battle that is not even ours and be still. In our still moment, while the storms continue to rage about us, GOD will get HIS glory! HE will get the praise! HE shall and will be reverenced and ALL will bless HIS holy name!
When life seems to be coming at you from every direction and it seems like there is no where to turn or that GOD is not hearing you, BE STILL. Because Our GOD is faithful. Our GOD will never leave nor forsake you. Praise and worship GOD for the victory! For the battle is already won.
Staying still in the sweet, annointed prescence of the Lord,
LaTonya

Praise God! Thanks for the awesome
word.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a
bind and think that God is not moving because we don't see the physical manisfestation of it. But we know that for us to simply be able to stand is evidence of God's grace and protection. To be able to be still and know that He is God is a blessingin itself. As long as we keep our minds stayed on Him, He promised to keep us in perfect peace.
Our blessings are often delayed because before God can begin to fix our situation, He has to undue all the damage we created in a haste when all he wants us to do is Be Still and see the salvation of the Lord.
God has truly been dealing with me lately about being in a rush. We are to be anxious for nothing. This was simply more confirmation.
I pray that God will continue to use you in a mighty way for His glory and that He will speak "peace be still" to the storms that are raging around you. Remember, when the enemy comes in like a flood the spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against Him. All we need to do is be still and Praise God in advance for the things our natural eyes have not yet seen.
He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all you can ask or think of. Don't wait until the battle is over. Shout now! I'm right here shouting with you.
Be Blessed Woman of God,
Shanita

LaTonya,
Yes, "God is our refuge, and strength,.." as you quoted in Psalms 46. There's a poem on my blog called BE STILL, maybe you've read it already. In Matthew 12:28-30 Jesus tells us to come to Him and He will give us rest.
Yesterday was a very unusual day for me. It started around 8 am. By the end of the day I had talked with 3 people who desperately needed God's help. I did and said what I felt God wanted. By the end of the day I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders. One of the problems I could relate to and I started asking God why, what did I do wrong and then I looked at a prayer by Helen Steiner Rice (I put it on my blog) and realized that I did not have to carry that load because Jesus loves us so much He wants us to give Him those burdens and that's exactly what I did. I have had peace ever since. Oh I've still prayed for the people but only God can help them if they will let Him.
It is my prayer that you will fill that peace that passeth all understanding and you will fill the presence of the sweet Holy Spirit as he comforts you and carries you through whatever it is that you need.
May the Spirit of the Lord be upon you,
AliceE.
That's a wonderful word, LaTonya. When you quoted Ps. 46:10 I was planning to provide you Ps. 46:1 but I see you already included that also. Those are two that I've kind of memorized together. He is our refuge and strength a "VERY" present help in trouble. I've always stopped my eye on the word very. You know we can have friends and family that say they love us, are there for us, and want to help us. But we can tell those who are really there who are very present, ready and standing in wait to assist us. I know my family and friends care and IF I were to call on them they'd likely jump and help me in a crisis. But with the Lord, He is very present. We KNOW He is there and not just when we call in a time of need or crisis. Does this make sense? I hope I'm not the only one who's experienced that. For example, about a month ago I had a VERY hard time for a couple days to the point of losing all desire. I shared this with my study group and one person said "call me next time". I know had I called her, she'd assist but sometimes, don't we want people to "check in" or to contact us to remind us they are there for us. Those suffering in times of great pain and need, do not have the motivation at times to reach out to another yet would openly receive a gester of help.
We know that God is always there for us and we NEVER had to question His intention or desire to help. Thank you, JESUS!
LaTonya, you have my email, so please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm hear if you want to share further about your recent trials.
Love,
Paula

What a great post. Thanks for reminding me to Be still and let God be God. I tis winderful to know God is in the midst of every storm and He offers us a place of refuge while He fights the battle.
LaTonya,
Be sure to read Donna's (fivedesigns) post she put on her blog today. She needs some encouragement.
Thanks,
AliceE.
LaTonya,
Thanks for your comments. It's encouraging when you feel that someone has been helped because you listened and followed God's direction. That is so hard to do sometimes.
I don't know what your going through but know that God is by your side each step of the way.
One night this week I woke up about 1:30am. I had been dreaming and felt like I had been battling and was not resting because of it. I was having some physical problems so I got up and went downstairs, got me a drink and sat down in the recliner. Tears started flowing and then my husband came down. I told him what I thought was going on and he prayed with me. After a while I felt such peace come over me. I can't explain it. I went back to bed and the words of a song came to my mind. I had not thought of them in a very long time. They were words to a song. "There's a sweet, sweet spirit in this place And I know that it's the spirit of the Lord." We use to sing it a lot at church during praise and worship time. I looked up the rest of the lyrics which are:
"There are sweet expressions on each face, And I know that it's the presence of the Lord. Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly dove, Stay right here with us, Filling us with your love, And for these blessings, We lift our hearts in praise, Without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived when we shall leave this place."
I went back to bed but woke up again with a jerk about 5:30 am. I had been dreaming again. Stressful dreams are so tiring, but when we look to the Father, He always gives us something to bring peace to our hearts.
May God be with you and help you through whatever it is that you may be battling. Just know that when you look to the Father you can feel that "sweet, sweet spirit filling your heart with peace, joy, love and whatever else you may need.
You are in my prayers,
AliceE.
Thanks so much for stopping by and what a great post. I think I needed some of that. I want to come back and read it better when I have more time to meditate on it. Have a great blessed day.
Lynn
LaTonya,
Please go to my blog and read my post for July 20th. I have a surprize for you.
AliceE.
LaTonya,
This is my second comment today. Lynn left me a message she received from Donna (fivedesigns). She was answering an email by phone that Lynn had sent her. Her computer broke down and she wanted you and I to know that she was ok and that she loved us. She has been on my heart for a while. I'm so glad she's okay.
Be Blessed,
AliceE.
Hi Latonya..
I just wanted to say hello and see how you are doing, will you be posting again soon? Hugz Lorie
Hi LeToya,
Amen! God is one Mighty God and nothing is too small or too big for God to deal with, as always God will protect us whether the storms are to big or to small! He is always with Us no matter what and no matter where we are!
He's always there!
And sometimes, people and including myself forgot to acknowledge that. Even when we forget the fact that God is always protecting us from any storms of life, He is always right beside us.
Your word are very inspiring and I will always come back and visit!
By the way, I'm glad that the message on my blog is helpful :) I was using Billy Hybels book called Developing Deeper Devotion to Christ: Commitment for my bible study and it is one awsome book that made me really think of others and as well myself.
Keep sharing the good news!
